Hastings Holdings, Inc., registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in April 2001, is one of the holding companies headed by business mogul Manuel “Manny” V. Pangilinan created using the PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund. Its immediate parent company is PLDT’s media arm, MediaQuest Holdings, Inc.
Hastings Holdings is primarily involved in print media. The company’s 2022 General Information Sheet lists three subsidiaries or affiliates involved in different media organizations: Treasurekeeper Holdings, Inc., which has shares in the broadsheet Philippine Daily Inquirer through Excel Pacific Holding Corporation; Philstar Daily, Inc. which publishes the broadsheet The Philippine STAR while its subsidiary PhilStar Global Corporation runs Philstar’s online website philstar.com and Interaksyon; Pilipino Star Ngayon, Inc. which handles STAR’s tabloids Pilipino Star Ngayon and Pang-Masa, STAR’s business magazine BusinessWorld, and regional newspapers The Freeman and Banat News.
Hastings Holdings president Miguel Belmonte also serves as president and CEO of The Philippine Star, BusinessWorld, and Pilipino Star Ngayon, and sits on the board of Cignal TV and Nation Broadcasting Corporation of the Philippines.
The chairman of the board of Hastings Holdings is Ray Espinosa, associate director and head of the communications bureau of Hong Kong-based First Pacific Co. Ltd. of Indonesian tycoon Anthoni Salim.
