702 DZAS AM

DZAS 702 is the flagship AM radio station of Far East Broadcasting Company (Philippines), Inc., an international Christian network of broadcast stations founded by American missionaries. While its primary mission is to spread Christianity throughout Asia by sharing the Gospel, the station also airs news, current affairs and public service content, along with music, live counseling, drama and educational shows.

Its programs are accessible online and overseas, and can be viewed on 702 DZAS Radyo TV cable television.

Broadcast operations in the Philippines started after the Japanese occupation and had been instrumental in strengthening America’s influence in the Philippines. 702 DZAS made its first broadcast in July 1948, two years after being granted a congressional franchise and securing a broadcast facility in Karuhatan, Valenzuela.

It is owned by FEBC, an international Christian broadcasting network founded and managed by American missionaries. In the Philippines, its board of trustees is composed of church leaders.

In 1960, FEBC had its 50,000-watt transmitter in Bulacan inaugurated by former president Carlos P. Garcia. According to the Official Gazette, Garcia underscored in his message the important influence of the United States in sowing the seeds of democracy and freedom in the region through the Philippines.

Its current operations are backed by a renewed franchise that took effect in 2021 through Republic Act 10819.

The company initially planned to operate in China to reach its desired audience in Asia but the plan did not push through. The missionaries saw an opportunity to put up their operations in the Philippines instead, and continues to go strong until today with a 2.43% rating from Nielsen’s CMV Q2 2023 report.

FEBC currently owns 10 AM and FM stations in the Philippines with international broadcast reach in China and parts of Southeast Asia.

Their broadcast station is located in Ortigas Center, Pasig City, Metro Manila.
