Abante
Abante is a tabloid in Pilipino published by Monica Publishing Corporation (MPC). MPC is solely owned by the Macasaet family whose patriarch, Amado P. Macasaet, is chairman while his son, Allen Macasaet, is president.
The elder Macasaet bought Abante in 1988 from Banahaw Publishing Corporation, which was owned by national artist Virgilio Almario, who began publishing Abante just the year before. In 1989, Macasaet also began publishing Abante Tonite, the tabloid's afternoon edition.
Its online platform, meanwhile, was launched in 2006.
Through the years, Abante has faced over 50 libel cases. The paper won most of them and settled a few out-of-court.
