DWWW 774
DWWW 774 kHz is an AM radio station that airs news and public affairs, and music programs. It had its first commercial broadcast on October 31, 1996, under the management of broadcast veteran Rene Palma and businessman Roberto Bacsal.
At the time, the station described its programming as "bold and innovative, and somewhat reckless." Unlike other AM stations that focused on hard-hitting news commentaries, round-the-clock news, and bombastic radio anchors, DWWW 774 allotted more than half of its broadcast hours for music programs instead. This propelled DWWW to the No. #4 spot in the Mega Manila AM ratings and carved a strong niche against rival stations.
In 2011, DWWW 774 worked on increasing the station's listener base and improving its overall programming, with Fred Davis as its new general manager. Its station profile enumerates the significant changes made under the new management, which later on gave birth to the new DWWW 774 "The Music of Your Life," launched on November 2 that year.
The station is operated and owned by Interactive Broadcast Media, Inc. (IBMI), an affiliate of EDCanoy Prime Holdings, Inc., a holding company owned by the Canoy Family. Enrico Canoy, DWWW 774’s station manager, and Davis, who also hosts one of the station’s commentary programs, are both vice presidents and stockholders of IBMI.
Republic Act 8210, which granted IBMI the franchise to "construct, install, establish, operate and maintain radio and television broadcast stations in the Philippines", lapsed into law on September 5, 1996, without the signature of then President Fidel V. Ramos.
In 2015, under Republic Act 10753, Congress renewed IBMI's franchise for another 25 years.
The Station’s studio is located in Greenhills, San Juan. It’s transmitter is located in Barrio Tagalag, Polo, Valenzuela. DWWW 774 broadcasts to Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and the Bicol provinces of Catanduanes, Masbate, and Camarines Norte.
