Good Television (GTV)
GMA Network, Inc.-owned GTV (Good Television) is a news, entertainment, and lifestyle channel on free-to-air TV.
The channel has undergone rebranding multiple times before it settled on its present name and was launched in February 2021. Prior to being called GTV, it was the official news and documentary channel of GMA Network and was known as GMA News TV. Before it transformed into a news channel, it was known as QTV-11, and was primarily a lifestyle channel of the network.
Before taking over ownership of the channel, GMA aired programs through a block time agreement with ZOE Broadcasting Network, Inc., owned by the family of Eduardo “Bro. Eddie” Villanueva, using ZOE’s franchise to air GMA-produced shows. That agreement ended in 2019 and was not renewed.
With GMA’s main network rival ABS-CBN losing its franchise in 2020, a historic agreement was signed between the two companies for GTV to serve as new home to ABS-CBN’s longest-running noontime show “It’s Showtime” starting July 2023. The program used to be the fiercest competitor of GMA’s lunchtime show.
GTV also airs on channel 15 on TVplus, channel 2 on GMA Affordabox, channel 24 on SKYcable, channel 11 on Cignal, channel 6 on GSat, and channel 24 on Destiny Cable.
GTV is owned and operated by CityNet Network and Marketing Production, Inc., which is a 100%-owned (direct) subsidiary of GMA Network, Inc. The major shareholders of GMA Network are the Duavit, Gozon, and Jimenez families, through their wholly-owned family corporations.
