Manila Bulletin

Manila Bulletin started out as Manila Daily Bulletin, a four-page shipping journal founded on February 2, 1900 with Carson C. Taylor and H. G. Farris as its original staff. Its purpose was to give the public accurate and reliable shipping and commercial information of companies. It was supported principally by shipping interests. Bulletin entered into a contract with El Progreso as its printer, and the newspaper was distributed for free.

In 1957, the ownership of Daily Bulletin was transferred to Swiss-Filipino Brig. Gen. Hans M. Menzi. In 1961, Yap bought shares in the Bulletin Publishing Corporation from Menzi. Yap became the company’s chairman in 1984. Five years later, the company’s name was changed to Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation.

Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation maintains several publications: Manila Bulletin, a daily broadsheet; Tempo, an English-language daily tabloid; Philippine Panorama, a Sunday weekly magazine; Style Weekend, a Friday weekly magazine; and several special interest magazines covering topics from travel , agriculture, sports and travel, lifestyle, beauty and fashion, cooking, and animals.

Manila Bulletin’s office is located at Muralla and Recoletos Streets in Intramuros, Manila.
