tribune.net.ph
Tribune.net.ph, the online platform of national broadsheet The Daily Tribune, started in 1999.
According to July 2016 data of analytics company Effective Measure, tribune.net.ph got slightly over 437,400 unique visitors for the month.
The Tribune experienced harassment by government forces when the police raided its offices shortly after midnight on February 25, 2006. Policemen without warrant swooped down on the Tribune office in Manila, after then president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo put the country under a state of emergency.
In October that same year, then first gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo also filed a libel suit against 43 journalists, including the paper’s editor-in-chief Ninez Cacho-Olivares.
The Olivares family owns half of the Tribune Publishing Company, with the 50 percent shares divided among Ninez and her children. The rest of the shares belong to Olica Development Corporation, whose certificate of registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission has been revoked, SEC documents show. Companies are considered “revoked” when they fail to submit General Information Sheets and Financial Statements for a number of years.
