Radio Veritas Global Broadcasting System, Inc.

Radio Veritas Global Broadcasting System, Inc.

Radio Veritas Global Broadcasting System, Inc. operates DZRV 846 (Radyo Veritas), the 24-hour Catholic AM radio station. Its programs are centered on spreading the values of the Roman Catholic Church.

While the station was originally run by the Archdiocese of Manila, Radio Veritas, the media company, was eventually tapped in 1991 to handle the commercial operations of the radio station in the Philippines and marked its separation from Radio Veritas Asia, which handles the Asia-wide broadcast service for the Catholic church.

It was due to financial problems that led to the termination of several of the station’s members that led to Radio Veritas Global Broadcasting System taking over the operations of DZRV 846.

The company runs its station under a strict policy against accepting advertisers with products and services, such as condoms and gambling, that go against the Catholic teachings.

On May 1, 1991, the Radio Veritas Global Broadcasting System, Inc. relaunched the station as ZNN Veritas to compete with top radio stations. It also aired secular programs and hired big names in the broadcast industry such as Rey Langit, Louie Beltran and Dong Puno. It, however, reverted to its old name DZRV six years later in 1997.

Under a new management, Radio Veritas was again relaunched in 2008 with a new logo and rebuffed its religious programming “for the benefit of the Catholic faithful.” The station has veered away from competing against secular radio stations. It is now focusing on targeting Catholics through its religious programs, such as novenas, the rosary, and discussions on faith-related issues.

Radyo Veritas has an audience share of 5.68% among all AM radio stations in Mega Manila. It airs regular news concerning the general public, as well as updates about the Catholic church and its affiliated organizations. It also produces talk and religious programs.
