Alfredo “Atom” L. Henares is a Filipino businessman with interests in media, real estate, electric power plants, water utilities, and pulp and paper manufacturing. He is the son of Hilarion “Larry” Henares, Jr., a former government official, businessman and media personality.

In the broadcast industry, he is recognized as a co-founder of the defunct cult-favorite DWNU 107.5 FM, the first and only Philippine radio station that exclusively aired rock music from 1987 to 2010. At present, he sits as vice president for television of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas.

As of August 2023, Henares is majority shareholder of broadcast company Progressive Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) with 61% shares. His stakes in PBC have decreased by 9.2% compared to his 70.2% shares in 2016, when he served as chairman and president of PBC.

PBC owns the broadcast frequencies being used by television station UNTV and FM radio station Wish 107.5. It partnered with Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International Inc. (BMPI) owned by broadcaster Daniel Razon as its marketing arm and content provider.

Henares, who has a masteral degree in business administration from Harvard Graduate School and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Ateneo de Manila University, is heavily involved in the power industry as chairman, since 2014, of SPC Power Corporation (formerly Salcon Power Corporation), a conglomerate of companies involved in electricity generation and distribution, water processing and, since 2021, officially expanded into renewable energy and real estate.

Within the SPC Power group, he also sits as chairman of its subsidiary companies SPC Malaya Power Corporation and SPC Island Power Corporation and affiliate KV Holdings, Inc. A director and treasurer of subsidiaries/holding companies SPC Light Company, Inc. and SPC Electric Company, Inc., and affiliates Western Panay Hydropower Corp., Salcon Philippines, Inc., SPC Property and Development Corp., SPEC Properties Inc. and Salcon International, Inc.

He is also a member of the board of directors of the conglomerate’s affiliate companies Bohol Water Utilities, Inc. and its associates Mactan Electric Company, Inc. and KEPCO SPC Power Corp.

Outside the SPC Power group, he sits as director of the pulp and paper manufacturer Isarog Pulp and Paper Co.

is the father of Alfredo “Atom” L. Henares. He is a filmmaker, educator, businessman, book author, television, radio, and print personality. He previously served in government as a board director of the National Shipyards and Steel Corporation under the administration of Carlos P. Garcia (1957-1961), chairman of the National Economic Council under former president Diosdado Macapagal (1961-1965), and chairperson of the board of trustees of the National Museum from 2010 to 2011 under Benigno Aquino III.
