Renato M. Marfil

Renato “Rey” M. Marfil was a long-time reporter then columnist of the popular tabloid Abante. He was later tapped as a communication assistant secretary and then undersecretary during the administration of the late President Benigno Aquino III from 2010 to 2016.

Now, he co-owns Abante after putting up Prage Management Corporation and acquired in 2018 the morning daily and its sister tabloid, Abante Tonite (published in the afternoon) from the Monica Publishing Corporation of the family of the late publisher Amado Macasaet.

Before making his mark as a journalist, Marfil, who grew up in Romblon, used to take farming and fishing jobs for survival.
