The Macasaet Family

Monica Publishing Corporation (MPC) is a publishing company owned by the Macasaet family. MPC produces two daily tabloid newspapers, Abante and Abante Tonite.

Veteran journalist Amado P. Macasaet is the chairman of the board while his son, Allen, is MPC’s president.

Six other members of the Macasaet family serve both as directors and stockholders of MPC—Allen’s wife Maria Genevieve and their children Maria Monica Anne, Amado Salvador, Antonio Alberto, and Alfonso Genaro. Maria Genevieve holds shares in-trust for son Allen Miguel.

Besides MPC, Amado is the publisher and chairman of People’s Independent Media, Inc. (PIMI). PIMI publishes Malaya Business Insight, a broadsheet that comes out weekdays. Amado is its major stockholder, with 89.64 percent ownership.

Allen serves as PIMI’s president. He is also among its stockholders.
