Isang Amerikano at dating war correspondent, si Robert La Rue Stewart, na kinalaunang nakilala bilang “Uncle Bob” dahil sa kanyang personalidad sa telebisyon, ang nagtatag ng istasyon na tinawag na Republic Broadcasting System (RBS).Noong 1975, dahil ang istasyon ay nalulugi at ang mga dayuhan ay hindi na maaaring magmay-ari at mamahala ng mga kumpanya ng media, isinuko ni Stewart ang kontrol ng istasyon sa kanyang abugado na si Felipe Gozon, sa bayaw ni Gozon na si Menardo Jimenez, at kay Gilberto Duavit, Sr., kaibigan ni Gozon at isa sa mga presidential assistant ni Marcos.Ngayon si, Felipe Gozon ang umuupong chair at chief executive officer ng GMA Network Incorporated samantalang si Gilberto Duavit Jr., anak ni Duavit Sr., ang presidente at chief operating officer.
