Negosyo ng pamilya, maliban kay MVP
Ang negosyanteng si Manuel V. Pangilinan ay namumuno sa kumpanya na kabilang sa may-ari ng tatlo sa nangungunang kumpanya ng media sa Pilipinas: Philippine Star, TV5, at Philippine Daily Inquirer. Iba siya sa mga kapwa niyang negosyante dahil wala sa mga kapamilya niya ang kilalang bahagi ng kanyang mga negosyo.
Marami sa mga kumpanya ng media sa Pilipinas ay pag-aari ng isang pamilya. Ayon sa Credit Suisse, noong 2017 sa Pilipinas, nangunguna ang mga negosyong pag-aari ng isang pamilya. Sa buong mundo, panlabing-isa ang Pilipinas sa pinakamaraming negosyong pag-aari ng isang pamilya. Kadalasan ay umaabot pa ito sa ilang henerasyon.
Ang mga nagpapatakbo ng ABS-CBN ay mga apo ni Eugenio Lopez Sr. na makapangyarihang negosyante ng asukal at kalakal.
Isa si Betty Go-Belmonte sa mga nagtatag ng Philippine Star. Mga anak niya sina Miguel (CEO), Kevin (manager) at Isaac (head editor).
Ang Manila Broadcasting Company, na nagpapatakbo ng DZRH, ay pinamumunuan ng mga apo ng magkakapatid na Elizalde—Joaquin Miguel, Manuel at Federico—lahat ay ninuno ang Kastilang negosyanteng si Joaquin Marcelino Elizalde.
Ang mag-inang sina Marixi Rufino-Prieto at Sandy Prieto-Romualdez ang nagpapatakbo ng Philippine Daily Inquirer, na may tatlo pang namumunong Prieto: Bryan Christopher Prieto, Paolo Romeo Prieto at Javier Vicente Rufino.
